How to anonymize an invoice in three steps

Drop the invoice or the statement
Invoices from billing software are PDFs with text and are analysed at once. For a paper invoice, drop a scan or a photo: on-device OCR reads it.

Review bank details and identities
Make sure every IBAN, card number and identifier is covered. Amounts with a currency symbol are detected too. If some figures must stay visible, untick them in the preview.

The layout is unchanged, so the file still looks like the real invoice. It is ready for a demo, a training set, a ticket or an audit sample.

Why financial documents deserve local processing
An IBAN with a name and an address is what a fraudster needs to build a convincing fake invoice. Payment fraud often starts with a real document that travelled too far. Every extra copy on an unknown server is one more place to lose it.
ONYRI never receives your invoices. Detection runs in your browser with detectors built for financial data: IBAN, BIC, French RIB, card numbers, VAT and company numbers. Card numbers are checked with the Luhn formula, which keeps false alarms low.
Finance teams also handle documents from customers and suppliers, not just their own. Masking third-party data before a file leaves the accounting tool is simple data minimisation. It takes seconds per document.
What you should know before you share the file
- Amounts are detected only when a currency symbol or code is attached. Bare figures in a table column, quantities and product lines stay visible. Add them by hand if they are confidential.
- Company names are not detected automatically, because any word can be a company name. Add your customers and suppliers under “Also mask” or as custom rules.
- Logos and stamps are images. ONYRI does not detect them. A logo can reveal a company even when the name is masked.
- Detection is not exhaustive, and token mode is pseudonymization, not legal anonymization. Masking reduces exposure; it does not replace your accounting retention duties or guarantee compliance.
Anonymizing invoices: frequent questions
Can I mask only the bank details and keep the rest?
Yes. In the preview, detected values are listed by family. Leave the bank details ticked and untick the values you want to keep visible. The download contains only the masks you kept.
Does it work with bank statements?
Yes. PDF statements are analysed directly. Account numbers, IBANs, names and addresses are detected. Transaction labels may contain names of people: check them in the preview.
Can I process a whole batch of invoices?
Documents are processed one at a time, in seconds. The Free plan allows 3 documents a day, up to 10 pages each. Pro removes both limits.
Are the masked invoices still valid accounting records?
No. A masked invoice is a working copy for sharing or testing. Keep the original invoice, unchanged, for your legal retention period.
Is any data from my invoices sent to ONYRI?
No. Neither the file nor the values found in it. Our servers only count that a document was processed, to apply your plan's daily limit.
