How to anonymize an HR document in three steps

Drop the CV, contract or payslip
PDF, Word or scan. Payslips exported from payroll software are usually PDFs with text and work at once. Scanned forms are read by on-device OCR.

Review what identifies the person
Check names, contact data and numbers. For a blind CV, also add the school or the last employer under “Also mask” if they give the person away.

Download the masked file
Send the masked copy to the hiring panel or to your adviser. The original stays in your HR system, under your usual access rules.

Why HR files should never pass through an upload tool
HR data is personal data about people who did not choose your tools. A payslip shows salary, social security number and bank account on one page. Uploading it to a free online redactor creates a new copy, in a place nobody at your company has reviewed.
With ONYRI, the employee file stays on the HR officer's computer. Detection and masking run in the browser. Nothing about the employee reaches our servers: no file, no extracted text, no list of what was found.
This makes data minimisation practical. The manager sees the facts of the case, not the identity. The hiring panel reads the skills, not the name, the age or the address. Less data shared means less data to protect later.
What you should know before you share the file
- Detection is rule-based and not exhaustive. Read the preview, especially for unusual first names and for names inside email addresses.
- A CV can identify someone through a photo, a rare career path or a personal website. ONYRI does not detect photos. Remove or mask these yourself.
- In small teams, a job title plus a date can be enough to recognise a colleague. Masking names reduces exposure; it does not make a file anonymous in the legal sense.
- Token mode is pseudonymization. The data stays personal data under the GDPR. Your usual duties (legal basis, retention, access rights) still apply.

Can I prepare blind CVs for a hiring panel?
Yes. Drop each CV, check that the name, address, date of birth and contact data are masked, add the items you want hidden, and download. On the Free plan you can process 3 documents a day; Pro has no limit.
Does ONYRI keep a copy of payslips or contracts?
No. The files are never sent to us. They are read in your browser's memory and are gone when you close the tab.
Are salary figures masked?
Amounts written with a currency, such as 3,200 € or $85,000, are detected. Payslip tables often hold bare figures with no symbol: check the preview and add the ones you want to hide.
Can I use the masked file with an AI assistant?
Yes, that is a common use. With token mode on Pro, the assistant reads [NAME1] and [AMT1] instead of real values. Its answer stays easy to follow, and the identity never left your browser.
